Buttock Implant or Fat Injection?

Nowadays, buttock fat injection is the most common procedure we perform for buttock contouring. However, apart from this, buttock implants also present an option for extremely slim patients who have no body fat at all. So, what are the differences?
Buttock Implant is a surgical procedure where a silicone implant specifically produced for the buttocks is placed between the gluteal muscles. The incision remains within the intergluteal cleft (buttock crease) and is not visible from the outside except when lying face down. Its key feature is providing a pronounced buttock projection. You achieve a buttock shape that appears significantly projecting from the rear and athletic when standing. The disadvantage, on the other hand, is that depressions remain on the sides of the buttocks—meaning the buttock-waist appearance we call the hourglass shape does not form.
Buttock Fat Injection ( BBL surgery ), on the other hand, is the process of increasing volume in desired regions of the buttocks using your own fat. The projection effect is not as overly pronounced as with buttock implants; however, because different areas such as the sides and upper parts of the buttocks are enlarged together, it creates a more natural and balanced appearance. Furthermore, there is no issue like surgical scar lines.
Comparison Table: Buttock Implants vs. Buttock Fat Injection ( BBL Surgery )
Buttock Implant | Buttock Fat Injection | |
Buttock Projection | Highly pronounced | Moderately pronounced |
Natural Appearance | Possible in small volumes | Present in small and medium-level volumes |
Long-Term Use | Must be removed if deformation occurs | Can be used for a lifetime |
Recovery Process | The first 2 weeks require great care | The first week requires care |
Infection Risk | Extremely high during the first weeks | Low level of risk during the first weeks |
Cost | More costly compared to fat injection | Since it is performed alongside liposuction, it transforms the whole body, offering a higher value-to-cost ratio and lower relative cost |
For extremely slim individuals, having buttock implants placed without using excessively large volumes creates a more natural appearance for them. Apart from this, a more natural appearance can also be achieved by combining buttock implants with fat injection to the sides of the buttocks.
